How To Use A Pendulum

Pendulums are not a new thing; people have been using them since the 16th for dowsing and spiritual purposes.  Galileo Galilei was the first to formally study and report on this back in 1602 and since then some of the great scientific minds across the centuries, from Leonardo Da Vinci to Isaac Newton have used pendulums.

Pendulum dowsing

Ready to start using a pendulum? You will find that using a pendulum works one of two ways. Either as a link to your subconscious mind or to connect with your spirit guides. Before you use your pendulum, smudge with white sage or palo santo, you can use spray if you are not able to burn and smudge. Start by holding your pendulum in the palm of your hand for a few moments. This can help you to connect to it and forge an energetic bond.

Open a sacred circle using a wand or a selenite wand, clockwise asking that only your spirit guides and angels that are working in service of the Highest Good to be allowed into your circle.

How do you ask a question? Asking a question, while using the pendulum, begins with making sure that you phrase your questions correctly. First you need to establish a connection and identify your body's "yes" and "no" responses. To do this, hold the pendulum 6 - 8 inches above the palm of your hand or a pendulum board. Begin to ask simple yes/no questions that you know the answers to and see what the responses are. Take note of what happens for each response.

The next part is easy, but you must keep in mind that the pendulum works best with simple yes/no questions. If you ask something that isn't directly a yes or no, your answer might not be clear. to you. You should be very precise with your question and take the time to mindfully feel into that question. Remember, the pendulum is connecting to your own energy and as our energy can be constantly shifting and settling.

Working with pendulums takes time and patience so don’t expect perfection the first few tries.  It may take time to build a relationship with your pendulum and it may take time for the pendulum to answer you. You also want to make sure you stay focused and open. Don’t force your mindset in one direction or the other as this could influence the pendulum. After a time, the force with which it swings can represent the power of the answer. For example, a gentle swing may be non-committal or approach with caution, where a full swing can be a wholehearted yes or no. Pendulums are an excellent way to get clear and to connect to your inner core and external guiding energies, with just a little patience and practice needed.
