Ostara Spring Equinox

Ostara, also known as the vernal equinox or spring equinox, is the second of three spring festivals on the Wheel of the Year. It is a time of balance, renewal, action, beginnings, hope, new possibilities. The day and night are equals in time and the true understanding of life and energy can be seen. Though it’s typically celebrated on March 20, the exact moment of the Equinox varies from year to year. The Equinox also occurs at differing local times, so depending on where you live, it may fall the day before or the day after the date listed on any given calendar. For this reason, a date range of March 19-21 is often cited in sources on the Wheel of the Year.
To honor the energies of this time of year, decorate your altar with fresh flowers and a small plant. Use flower petals to mark the sacred circle and fill your cauldron with fresh water.
